Dwight Howard is one of the best players in the NBA and likely the best center in the league and now that he is a free agent he will be getting plenty of attention from teams, including the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Warriors and Atlanta Hawks, but if you are a fan of that team, you shouldn't want them to sign Howard.

Why exactly is that? Well, there are a few reasons, but mainly because the man does not have the winning attitude that many other players have like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant and if your team is going to spend tons of money on a player, shouldn't it be one who wants winning above all else? Sure, Howard wants to win like every other player, but something is missing from his game that is evident in Kobe's and that is a killer instinct. How can anyone explain why one of the best players in the NBA did not find it rewarding or fulfilling to play for one of the most storied franchises in history with one of the best players in history?

Howard is a complainer and a whiner and now he is asking the Rockets to add a third superstar on a max contract to sign there because everything is all about Dwight. The Lakers made a smart move because they thought Howard would come in and want to make things work after spending time in Orlando, where by the way, he waffled so many times about maybe playing there and maybe wanting to leave that he made "the Decision" look like a Saturday cartoon.

Finally, he made it out of Orlando and to the Lakers, a franchise that has a history of big men like any other, so what does he do? He disparages Shaq, doesn't get along with Kobe and doesn't work to play right in Mike D'Antoni's system. Now the Lakers may lose him to the Dallas Mavericks, Warriors and Atlanta Hawks and you know what, they should just let him walk. Howard is a PHENOMENAL talent and there is no disputing that, but something in his attitude and his makeup just does not work when it comes to winning a championship and the fact that he had no interest in trying to make things work in LA should scare teams off.

Obviously the man will get his money and this is just one man's opinion, but take the emotion out of it and just look at the facts. Why would Howard make it so difficult for himself with the Lakers? The team had the potential to be good and yes they dealt with injuries, but wouldn't things have been much easier if Dwight got with the program instead of complaining about not getting the ball like he is used to? Howard is an amazing defender and an excellent rebounds, but he is not the man I want being the franchise player on my team. Kobe and the Lakers are going to chase him, but a betting man should lay down money that Kobe wins another title before Howard does.
