Wimbledon 2013 Results and Scores: Novak Djokovic Wins, Breezes to the 3rd Round

Jun 27, 2013 02:55 PM EDT

Novak Djokovic had no problem avoiding an upset against Bobby Reynolds in the second round of Wimbledon 2013. Djokovic cruised to victory in straight sets, 7(7)-6(2), 6-3 and 6-1. With the win, Djokovic is on his way to the third round at the All English Club.

Djokovic got off to a rough start in the first set. He had trouble getting in his first serves (22-34, 65%) and committed seven unforced errors. Reynolds took full advantage of Djokovic's mistakes, forcing a tiebreak.

Ironically, it was in the tiebreak that Djokovic began playing like the true No. 1 ranked player in Men's Singles. He quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead and eventually won the tiebreak 7-2. From then on, it was all Djokovic. He went on to win 12 of 16 games played, as he remained focused and only committed four unforced errors the rest of the way.

Looking ahead, Djokovic and Andy Murray are now the tournament's favorites. David Ferrer has been solid and consistent for the past two years, but he still hasn't won a grand slam, so it's difficult to compare him with Djokovic and Murray. The only reason why Murray is being considered a favorite is because Roger Federer is gone and the Swiss was the last hurdle Murray couldn't climb to win the Wimbledon in 2012.

Djokovic awaits his next opponent as face Jeremy Chardy (28) and Jan-Lennard Struff will face off later today to decide on Djokovic's opponent in the third round of Wimbledon.

How does he fair against both of these opponents?

Against Chardy, Djokovic is a perfect 6-0. The two last met in 2011, when Djokovic went on to win the tournament. Struff is a newbie and has never faced Djokovic before, playing in his first Wimbledon tournament and second grand slam over all.
