New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is arraigned on charges of murder and weapons violations in Attleborough, Massachusetts, after being arrested, June 26, 2013. Hernandez, a 23-year-old rising football star with the New England Patriots, was arrested by police in a murder investigation and fired by the team on Wednesday, another blot on the National Football League's tightly protected image."

Aaron Hernandez is no longer a New England Patriots player after the team released him following his arrest for the involvement in the case of the death of Odin Lloyd and now reports say that the tight end is being investigated in another case, a double murder from July 2012.

According to Fox 25, he is being investigated with a July 2012 double murder that happened in Boston and this follows a trend, as his past and involvement in other cases has been scrutinized since he was arrested. Hernandez was brought into custody after a week of speculation and was arraigned on Wednesday and charged with multiple counts, including murder and gun charges for having them in his home illegally without permits or ID.

The new case involves a double murder in Boston that occurred at 2 AM on July 16 with the victims being Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu and he is being looked at as witnesses said gray or silver SUV drove away. It had RI license plates and now that investigation is open. The Patriots felt they had to part ways with Hernandez and now his case will be compared to O.J. Simpson, Ray Lewis and Rae Carruth, who all dealt with murder trials. Carruth was convicted while the other two got off and Lewis may end up in the Hall of Fame.

Hernandez was looked at as one of the rising stars for the Patriots and now that is all over after he was released. The team released a statement and said it was the right thing to do and also sent condolences to the victim's family. Hernandez has been accused of orchestrating the murder and while no murder weapon was found, he still could end up facing life in prison for the crimes.

Lloyd was connected to Hernandez through his girlfriend, who was the sister of the tight end's fiancé. Hernandez leaves her at home with a young child and he was denied bail for now, but his lawyers appealed that ruling and he could face a trial next year. The case is a bad image for the NFL and with Lewis and the other cases coming back into the forefront, Roger Goodell will look for ways to move past it. Hernandez is now another statistic and he could end up in jail for a long time depending on how the trial goes.
