Authorities plan to arrest New England Patriots football player Aaron Hernandez for allegedly interfering with a murder investigation, a law enforcement official familiar with the case said on Friday. An arrest warrant for obstruction of justice has been issued for Hernandez, 23, a star tight end in the National Football League, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was taken into custody by police on Wednesday morning for his connection with the murder of Odin Lloyd and now his future with the team and the league are in question.

Hernandez's charges have not been announced and authorities said that they will be made public when he makes his first court appearance. The police searched his home for hours over the weekend as well as a pond and wooded area near his home and now they have executed an arrest warrant, which could be for obstruction of justice. The case involves the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, who was connected to Hernandez through his girlfriend.

Hernandez was reportedly seen on video with Lloyd the night of the murder and police have been investigating him ever since. The team has been mum on the investigation and he was taken into custody just before 9 PM by police, including state and local authorities. He was arrested in about five minutes and taken into custody with a white t-shirt and red shorts with sneakers and was taken away in a police cruiser.

The police were deliberate through the week in looking at the evidence before arresting Hernandez and now they feel they have enough to bring him in. The reports say that it is obstruction of justice charges, but depending on what the police find, it could be for more serious charges. The police made him look pretty bad with the perp walk and now the next step is the arraignment in court.

Things started off for Hernandez after the body was found on June 17 and things continued as they investigated his home after finding the body just a mile away. Hernandez lost a number of endorsements and later he was followed by news choppers as he went to the stadium and his lawyers office. Reports about his arrested went back and forth, but now he clearly is in custody.
