EPL Transfer News: Victor Wanyama Snubs Southampton Offer; Nainggolan Confirms Saints Interest

Jun 25, 2013 01:25 AM EDT

Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has snubbed a move to Southampton despite the Saints agreeing a fee with the Scottish champions.

Southampton are thought to have come to terms with Celtic over a £10 million ($15 million) fee, but Wanyama, who has also been targeted by the likes of Arsenal, Manchester, United and Liverpool, could not agree on personal terms.

"While the bid was okay for Celtic, the terms were not right for myself and my agent," he was quoted as saying by the Southern Daily Echo.

"I am open to what offers are made, but I am relaxed and it's important that Celtic are happy too."

Southampton could make a second offer to Wanyama and it remains to be seen whether the Saints continue pursuing the midfielder, with Cardiff and Stoke City also reportedly interested in the services of the 21-year-old.

Meanwhile, Belgian international Radja Nainggolan confirmed Southampton's interest in him, but is not sure if a move to St Mary's will be best for his career.

The Saints are reported to have lodged a £15 million ($23 million) bid for the Cagliari midfielder, who has also piqued the interests of Inter Milan and Roma.

"Honestly, Southampton have made me the biggest offer at the moment compared to the other clubs. But I don't play football for money," he told Goal.

"My priority is looking for a brighter future for my career and Southampton is my last choice.

"I'm still a Cagliari player. Whether I will stay or not depends on the club's vision for the future.

"If Cagliari have a good plan for my career, of course I will stay.

"The situation is uncertain and everything can happen. But, I have to consider my future career as well.

"It's no problem for me to move to English football for the sake of my career. There are plenty of national team scouts in the Premier League or Spanish Primera Liga, not like in Serie A."
