The Miami Heat are back-to-back NBA champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the finals and with the win there are even more questions, including whether LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will remain together next season.
Despite the fact that many think they should split up, that move is far from happening as the franchise and Pat Riley likes stability and after two championships they won't want to mess with the formula. After winning his second MVP it is clear that James is the best player of the bunch and while Wade is older and his knees are hurt and Bosh appears to be an offensive mess, the three will remain teammates for at least one more season.
Some writers have suggested trading Bosh after he scored zero points in Game 7, but the forward proved how important he is to the team in Game 6, as he made three hugely important plays down the stretch. He blocked both Danny Green and Tony Parker in overtime and also set up the winning shot with Ray Allen. Bosh proved his worth in those moments and despite having $60 million on his deal, he won't be going anywhere.
The Heat need to retool after winning their second straight title and there are a number of moves the team can make with free agents and in the draft to help add talent to the roster. The Big 3 had some weak points exposed in the playoffs and one move the team could make later to add talent is to ask Bosh and Wade to take less money while James gets a long term extension. Some speculate that LeBron could leave eventually, but he has made a nice home in South beach and now has the chance to join some of the best players of all-time with his accomplishments.
James scored a triple double in Game 6 and had 37 points in Game 7 and he will continue to be looked at as the best player in the league until he retires. James has shown that he belongs in the conversation with Michael Jordan and now that he has won two straight MVPs and two straight titles, he joins Jordan and Bill Russell as the only ones to do it. He scored 16 points in Game 6 in the fourth quarter and hit the shot that kept the Heat up four against Spurs with 30 seconds left in Game 7. He is already four years younger than Jordan and has one more MVP through his first 10 seasons and he still has the chance to be the number one player ever.
