The free agency period in the NBA is set to begin on July 1 and teams are eagerly waiting for the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs to finish the NBA finals so they can really get the ball rolling and at the point guard position there are a number of solid players out there, including Chris Paul, Mario Chalmers, Brandon Jennings, Jarrett Jack, Nate Robinson, Jeff Teague and Jose Calderon.

Many different teams are in the market for point guards, including the Raptors, Mavericks, Lakers and New York Knicks among others. Some of the top names will get attention, but the class is deep at the position, with names like Chalmers and CJ Watson also hitting the market. Teams looking for cheaper options will be able to find players, including Jeff Teague and Darren Collison.

Chris Paul is obviously the top free agent of the position and possibly the best one out there and while the Clippers will be trying to bring him back, but there is a chance he could be swayed by another team, including the Mavericks or Hawks, as they are trying to bring in Dwight Howard as well. Paul has said that he wants to remain in Los Angeles, but that could change as it gets closer to July 1.

Chalmers poses an interesting option for the Heat, as he has a team option and has proven to be a very good player for the team while supporting the big three over the past few years. He has been able to shine in moments and if he wants to be more of a prime player he could decide to move on, but the Heat need him as one of their best players apart from the Big 3 and that's why they will probably keep him. The Mavericks have Darren Collison, but he is a restricted free agent and while they are in the market for a point guard, he will likely remain in Dallas.

Jose Calderon has been rumored to go back to the Raptors after being in the Rudy Gay trade, but he could be an interesting option for teams that need a solid point guard. Jarrett Jack is an unrestricted free agent and he is one of the most interesting players out there, as he played very well in the postseason while averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game and he was solid during the regular season, averaging 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists.

Nate Robinson is going to get some attention after the way he played in the playoffs and Jeff Teague could get some extra attention despite being a restricted free agent. He averaged 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists last season and showed great improvement with his game.
