NBA News And Rumors: Doc Rivers Unsure About A Return To Celtics After Clippers Walk Away From Negotiations

After negotiations between the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics died down, coach Doc Rivers is unsure about returning to the Celtics, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge informed Rivers of the failed negotiations on Tuesday, and reiterated the Celtics' desire to have him return and fulfill the final three remaining years left on his current contract

However, Rivers has already expressed his desire to not be a part of the Celtics rebuilding process. As one source tied to Boston ownership and Rivers said, "You don't just move on from this and act like nothing happened."

According to CSNNE.com, Rivers has not entirely ruled out taking some time off to continue his broadcasting career and return to coaching afterwards.

"You guys (media) have been around Doc long enough to know that's always been something he's talked about," the source said. "So it shouldn't come as a surprise. And frankly, now is probably as good a time as any for him to go that route."

Rivers has been among the most respected and well-liked coaches in the NBA for many years now. On more than one occasion he stated that he would consider taking a sabbatical from coaching in order to recharge as well as spend more time with his family.

As for the Clippers, although their gamble for Rivers didn't pan out as expected, nevertheless, they plan to return to interviewing candidates for their coaching job, including Brian Shaw, Byron Scott and Lionel Hollins, sources said.
