Tottenham Transfer News: Corinthians Confirm Interest From Spurs for Paulinho, But Inter Milan and Roma Remain Favorites

Corinthians director Duilio Moneiro Alves confirmed Tottenham do hold an interest in their midfielder Paulinho, but insisted they are yet to receive any official offer for the Brazilian international.

Spurs are thought to be keen on bringing in the 24-year-old to White Hart Lane this summer, and have reportedly sent out scouts to watch the player in action during the Confederations Cup.

The likes of Roma, Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk are also interested in Paulinho, with Shakhtar's chief executive was recently quoted as saying the midfielder already had a pre-contract agreement with Inter.

However, Monteiro Alves has denied receiving any offer for Paulinho, who is rated at around £17 million ($27 million), but expects the interest to be ramped up as the transfer window moves ever closer to officially opening up from July.

"In the last two years and the last four transfer windows there were offers, so imagine now?"  Monteiro Alves told UOL.

"It won't be any different, especially considering his performances for Corinthians in the last year and now in the Confederations Cup.

"We know Tottenham have an interest, but nothing official yet. We are waiting for the next few days to talk about official and concrete facts.

"There were not offers, but we are waiting. Of course offers will come, especially as non-official offers have come from some clubs.

"We believe something will come within the next few days, but we will try to keep him."

Paulinho, who was also extensively linked with Chelsea last season, said news over a possible move will come about only after the Confederations Cup, while admitting his admiration for Roma and Inter.

"Unfortunately, at this moment in time, nobody has offered Corinthians the fee set in my contract for my sale," Paulinho was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport. "Nobody.

"Roma are a prestigious club. A champion such as Paulo Roberto Falcao wore their shirt, a player I have always admired.

"Roma and Inter are clubs where any player would want to be a protagonist, but you'll see that nothing will happen until after the Confederations Cup."
