Tiger Woods is looking to add a 15th major championship to his mantle after winning four times on tour already this year and with the U.S. Open Championship coming at Merion Golf Club, the golfer took a look this week at a course he never played at.

Woods was at the course earlier in the week and played a round on Monday and the number one ranked player said he got a good feel of the course despite dealing with some rough weather. Woods has won four times already this year, the most recent one coming at the Players Championship, where he dealt with some drama with Sergio Garcia that ended up turning racial afterwards. Garcia was made after Woods distracted him during a shot in the round when the two were paired and after accusing him of doing it, Woods said he thought the marshal told him Garcia hit. After other marshals said Tiger lied, another came to his defense and after that many felt it was over.

Things turned racial twice after that, once when Sergio Garcia was asked a question about Woods coming over for dinner during the US Open and he answered with a racial remark about fried chicken. Later he apologized and then it came up again when the Euro Tour chief used the word "colored" when talking about Woods and the situation. Woods did not let it phase him and took things in stride and now he is getting ready for the US Open as well as the Memorial Tournament on Thursday.

Woods is the number one golfer in the world again after catching up with Rory McIlroy and now he is showing the dominant form he had before his scandal and downfall. He won at the Players as well as the Farmers Insurance Open along with the WGC Cadillac and the Arnold Palmer invitational and he is bringing strong play heading into the major. Woods has been hitting great off the tee and his putting has been much better since his buddy Steve Stricker gave him some advice earlier in the year.

Woods is playing relaxed and intense at the same time and while some say that his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn has given him a good head while on the course and he now has the chance to break his major streak with a win. He had a chance at the Masters after dealing with his drop controversy and now he will be back in the fold as one of the favorites for the Open. Merion is a tough course and after Woods got a look at it earlier in the week he will be better prepared for the ins and outs of the course as he tries to end his streak of losing majors and he would love to add the Open to his list after all this time.
