Brittney Griner was the number one draft pick out of Baylor for the WNBA this past season and despite losing her first professional game, the Phoenix Mercury star was explosive and dunked twice in one game, the first time a player has done that in the league.

Griner had two dunks on the night in the 102-80 loss to Chicago, which featuyred the debut of number two draft pick Elena Delle Donne out of Delaware, who had 22 points in her first game and win. Griner joined two greats in Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie as the only players to dunk and now Griner will continue working to get her team a win after scoring 17 points and dealing with some foul trouble in the defeat.

Chicago was more consistent in the game and Griner ended up with 17 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots while Delle Donne had one of the best debuts in WNBA history. Diana Taurasi had 18 points and four assists alongside Griner, while Candice Dupree added 15 points in the loss. The Sky had a big halftime lead with the help of Delle Donne and Epiphanny Prince had 26 points and five assists,

The debut of Griner and Delle Donne were two of the biggest starts in WNBA history, as both players were prolific in college and are expected to be stars for their team. Delle Donne overshadowed Griner in the stat sheet and in the standings, but the crowd was buzzing about Griner and her two dunks were a big hit on social media.
