The San Antonio Spurs continue to have the best record in the playoffs after they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 3 of their Western Conference Series. With the victory, they are up to 11-2 in the postseason as their only two losses came semifinals against the Golden State Warriors. The Miami Heat are trying to rebound from a Game 2 loss, while the Indiana Pacers are looking to take that momentum with them into the Banker's Life Fieldhouse.
The Spurs survived an onslaught of steals from the Grizzlies early in their game. Three minutes into Game 3, the Grizzlies had forced four turnovers. By the end of the first quarter, the Grizzlies were up 29-13 and have recorded seven steals. However, by halftime, the Spurs have trimmed down that lead to four points as they were trailing 44-40 at halftime. They committed only 10 turnovers the rest of the game and pushed the game to overtime.
That's one thing about these NBA games, if you're an objective viewer, these playoffs have provided a lot of drama, especially these two series. The Heat and Pacers went to overtime in Game 2 as well right after having Game 1 go to the wire. Though Game 1 between the Spurs and Grizzlies was a blowout, the Grizzlies made it a competition in Game 2 and pushed that matchup to overtime. Game 3 saw the same result and Memphis simply couldn't put the game away as they had the last possession in regulation and Mike Conley missed a layup at the buzzer.
For the Spurs, they relied on the same remedy as Tony Parker and Tim Duncan scored almost half of the team/s points. Parker finished with 26 points, while Duncan added 24 and grabbing 10 rebounds for the triple-double.
Now, the Spurs took one from the Grizzlies on the road. The FedEx Forum had yet to see their Grizzlies lose at home, can the Heat do the same as they go into the Fieldhouse where the Pacers have yet to lose a game? With a win, the Heat snatch home court advantage right back after losing Game 2. This series is 1-1 and the Pacers are coming of age right before everybody's eyes.
Roy Hibbert is reaching his full potential as a scorer while Paul George is becoming more and more of a sure scring threat. Game 3 is at 8:30 p.m. ET. Somebody will have a 2-1 lead after this game is over.
