As Phil Jackson continues his tour through the media to promote his new book, Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success, fans are learning more and more about him and the Los Angeles Lakers at the beginning of the season when the franchise looked over Jackson to hire Mike D'Antoni as the team's new head coach.

Jackson recently conducted an interview on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday morning, where Patrick asked Jackson to clarify on some of the events that took place prior to the hire of D'Antoni.

DP: Were you offered the job?

PJ: I would say yes to the answer and the question. It was proposed to me without any hesitation. They wanted to hear me out and I wanted to hear them out.

DP: What happened 11th hour? Do you know all the details behind the scenes? They were waiting for your answer? Is that fair?

PJ: Yeah, I would say that's fair. Obviously at the end of the process, Mitch Kupchak had asked to come along with Jim Buss, and at the end of the process Mitch said you know I'm going to have to continue interviewing people for the job. If you turn this down I have to be prepared to move on.

It comes as much of a surprise to hear that Jackson was actually offered the job before D'Antoni, as that's a piece of information that has remained hidden like Area 51.

It was reported that Jackson had interest in the position, but the way Jackson makes it sound it's almost as if he was given the offer, to only have such a short duration of time to come up with a response.

There's always different side to a story, but not that it even matters now, fans are still left wondering. Why?
