Arsenal Transfer News: Chamakh Wants to Leave Gunners for Bordeaux; Walcott Reveals Wenger Blast in Game Against Wigan

One of the players that Arsenal are desperate to sell in the summer transfer window to make room for new signings - Marouane Chamakh - has expressed his desire to join former club Bordeaux.

Chamakh made quite a good impression upon his arrival to Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux in the summer of 2010.

However, after the bright start, the striker's form dovetailed alarmingly, leading to the player being benched for much of last season.

After failing to make an impression at the start of the current season, Chamakh was sent out on loan to West Ham in the January transfer window, but the 29-year-old has not quite made his mark at Upton Park either.

Chamakh is one among several players expected to leave Arsenal in the summer, and the striker admitted Bordeaux would be his preferred destination.

"Everyone knows that Bordeaux is a club that is in my heart," he told Le10 Sport. "If I find an agreement with Bordeaux, why not.

"I am always nostalgic. I spent so many good times here.

"There is a good chance that I will not stay at Arsenal. If I come back to France, it will be in Bordeaux."

Meanwhile, Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, who scored the crucial winning goal in the 4-1 win over Wigan Tuesday, revealed how Arsene Wenger blasted the players and gave them a wake-up call at halftime in the game at the Emirates, with the scores then tied at 1-1.

"The manager gave us a kick up the backside," the 24-year-old said.

"It is great that the manager has that passion and it got a bit more out of the players.

"It is massive to be in the Champions League. We all knew our big it is, not just for the manager, the fans, the players and the club itself."

With the win, Arsenal moved back into pole position for a top-four finish in the English Premier League, and three points at Newcastle in the final game of the season on Sunday will confirm Arsenal's place in the Champions League next year.

Walcott said the fear of being the first team in 16 years to not qualify for the Champions League drives the players to success, with Arsenal currently on a nine-match unbeaten run.

"We just have great experience in knowing what to do when the time is right," Walcott added. "It is funny. It happens every year.

"We tend to finish very strong. I think it is just because the players want it so much.

"It (Champions League football) is big for the future of the club and the players. We have been in it for the last 15 years and we don't want to be the players who are not part of that.

"We just need to show that in the mid-season and at the start and we could hopefully be even higher than we are and not have this situation we are in.

"But it is very positive, and we will be fighting strong on Sunday."
