Tiger Woods won for the fourth time on tour this season with his victory on Sunday at the Players Championship and he now may find himself as the favorite for the U.S. Open as he looks to try and add another major trophy to his resume.

Woods defeated Sergio Garcia after he blew up at the end and Tiger was able to rebound from putting his tee shot in the water on 14 to win after shooting a two under 70. The leaderboard was close for most of the final day, but it was Woods on top when it was all said and done and he won the tournament for the first time since 2001 at a course where does not usually play well.

Woods's girlfriend Lindsey Vonn was at the tournament cheering him on Sunday and the two were together on Monday night in NYC for the Met Gala. According to reports, Woods was drunk on Monday night, but that didn't stop him from playing well all weekend and now he has more wins before June than any other time in his career since 2000, which came right before he won the next four majors.

Woods was looking good with a two stroke leading heading into the final holes, but after putting his shot in the water he gave some hope to the other golfers. Garcia ended up blowing his own chance and finished plus six over the final holes and took himself out of contention with a quadruple bogey seven. There was some controversy the previous day when Tiger may have pulled a club too soon, causing crowd noise, but the only thing that hurt Garcia on the final day was himself and Woods won with a 13 under 275 on the tournament.

Woods is back at the number one ranking and now his next step is to win a major and his next chance will be at the Us Open. Woods won in his 300th start, something he did at 100 and 200 and now he looks towards adding another major championship.
