Arsenal are looking at the possibility of making a bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Lukasz Piszczek in the summer transfer window, as Arsene Wenger prepares for the possible exit of Bacary Sagna at the end of the season.

Sagna will only have a year remaining on his contract come the summer and the Frenchman has been unable to agree on a new deal with the Gunners.

Wenger, wary of the number of injuries suffered by the 30-year-old over the past couple of years and his waning form, is only ready to offer a one-year extension, with Sagna demanding a longer contract.

The rightback has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain and Monaco, and it is looking increasingly likely the former Auxerre man could move back to his homeland in the summer.

Arsenal have been linked with several names at rightback, with the likes of Sebastian Corchia of Sochaux and Daryl Janmaat of Feyennord reportedly being monitored.

However, with Carl Jenkinson coming along nicely in the position, Wenger might be tempted to make a move for a more experienced rightback, with Lukasz Piszczek topping that list, according to the Daily Mail.

Piszczek has been one of the most consistent performers for Dortmund over the past couple of years and is a mainstay in the Polish national team as well.

The 27-year-old is an automatic choice at rightback at the German club, and has been instrumental in helping Dortmund to the Champions League final this season.

Arsenal will be able to offer better personal terms for Piszczek and that could be the key if Wenger is to convince the defender to make a switch to the Emirates once the summer transfer window opens.

Dortmund, though, have already lost Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, with Robert Lewandowski also expected to leave at the end of the season. Therefore, the German club will not be too keen on losing anymore of their players, and Arsenal will have to make a considerable bid to convince them to sell.
