Tim Tebow is still a man without a home after the New York Jets released the quarterback following a rough 2012 season and after he cleared waivers he became a free agent eligible to sign with any team and the next step is to find one that wants him.
The New York Jets traded for Tebow in March of last year and sent two draft picks and agreed to pay money to the Denver Broncos in the process and when the team introduced him after the move, everyone was saying the right things, including Tebow. Rex Ryan and Woody Johnson praised Tebow and said that he would bring a new element to the offense and that his presence would not disrupt Mark Sanchez. Ryan was committed to Sanchez and hoped to use Tebow in the same role that Brad Smith was for the team for many years, but instead they completely mismanaged the entire thing.
Tebow now has had to suffer through even more embarrassments, as he has been given offers for a number of jobs, just none of them in the NFL. So far he has received an offer from the Lingerie football league, indoor football, as well as Arena Football and possibly one to work on TV, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. Tebow has also had to deal with being the subject of a petition on the "We the People" website about being signed to the Jaguars, but the White House took that down since it violated its terms of service.
On top of that, Tebow was just named the number one influential athlete in America by Forbes, over names like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning. Manning is the man who replaced him in Denver and clearly it worked out for the Broncos, but could Denver hold out some love for Tebow and bring him back? The answer is probably absolutely not, but it would be very interesting to see wouldn't it? Peyton would obviously have no problem about keeping his job, which is actually good for Tebow because the speculation wouldn't be there and he could learn from a Hall of Famer.
That obviously has no chance of happening, and even though the petition was taken down, it may convince the Jaguars to give him an extra look. The team could use some excitement and since they were so bad last season they don't have much to lose. They wouldn't have to trade anything away for him and could sign him on the cheap, while also bringing a state hero back home to Florida.
Another option could be the Browns, as the team entered free agency with nearly $50 million in salary cap space, one of the highest totals in the NFL. The team went 5-11 last season behind rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden, who finished with 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. The rookie led all first-year quarterbacks with balls knocked down at the line of scrimmage, but the Browns will likely keep him as the starter going forward at least for one more season and could have Tebow as some competition.
