The ATP released news on Friday that chairman Brad Drewett died after a battle with ALS and the motor neurone disease took him to an early grave at the age of 54.

According to the Associated Press, Drewett was the operations leader for the ATP Middle East, Asia and the Pacific regions and he previously was a player that ranked in the top 40 in singles and the top 20 in double during his career. He retired in 1990 and later became ATP executive chairman and president in January 2012.

Many tennis stars took to Twitter to wrote condolences and respect for Drewett, including Stars Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
