NBA Playoff Standings 2013: Stephen Curry Shoots Golden State Warriors To Series Win Against Denver Nuggets In Game 5 At Pepsi Center Tuesday

Apr 30, 2013 04:57 PM EDT

The Denver Nuggets only lost three times at home during the regular season, which made the win by Stephen Curry and the Golden state Warriors in Game 2 even more surprising than the 3-1 series lead the team holds as Game 5 is set for Tuesday night in Colorado.

Curry, despite having an injured ankle, has been the primary reason why the team has been playing so well and one reason why they are in a chance to advance to the next round after taking a 3-1 series lead with a 115-101 win on Sunday, their third straight since losing the opening tilt. Curry has been lights out for the team and has been shooting 9.5 3-point attempts per game in this series after setting the record for 3-pointers during the regular season and he is now averaging 27 points in the playoffs. Curry has been excellent this series, scoring 19, 30, 29 and 31 points in the four games and his shooting has just been lights out, as he is making nearly 52 percent of his shots from the field.

The Warriors have been playing much better on defense since the start of the series and despite the fact that the tea, has given up over 100 points in three straight games, they have come out on top, including in a close 110-108 win on Friday. The Nuggets had all the momentum heading into the postseason and the team won 57 games and were on a 23-3 stretch when the postseason began, but after some close losses, George Karl knows the team must stop Curry. Apart from the layup at the buzzer by Andre Miller, the Nuggets have not been able to pull out a game and that is mostly due to Curry, who has stepped up in the absence of David Lee.

Curry will again be the focus on Tuesday night when the two teams play at the Pepsi Center and Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala will need to stay tough with him and put bodies on him when he shoots so that he can't be as clean from the open floor. Curry has proven to be an elite NBA shooter and he could help the team go far this postseason run.
