President Obama is an avid sports fan and on Monday he greeted a fellow lover of football, as 7-year-old cancer patient Jack Hoffman and his family were at the White House and spoke to the President for 15 minutes on Monday.

According to the Associated Press, President Obama met with Hoffman and his family as well as running back Rex Burkhead and gave the boy a new football and spoke about how proud he was in his fight against cancer. Hoffman became an internet sensation after participating in Nebraska spring practice and rumbling 69 yards to close the game for a touchdown and was lifted up by the whole team.

Burkhead was drafted by the Bengals over the weekend and he had a relationship with Hoffman while playing for Nebraska. The report says that the visit started off when Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., told President Obama in passing about the touchdown and suggested that he should visit the White House and they did just that after a sightseeing tour over the weekend. Hoffman and his parent met the president and he said afterwards that "it was awesome." Obama also got a chance to speak to Burkhead and wished him well in the NFL and also thanked him for the work and relationship he has with Hoffman.
