Kolkata Knight Riders will be keen to continue their momentum after picking up a vital win over the Kings XI Punjab in their IPL 2013 game Friday, but come up against the in-form Chennai Super Kings in their fortress that is the Chepauk.
KKR needed to win against Kings XI at the Eden Gardens, after losing five of their first seven games, but know even with their third win of the tournament, they have a long way to go if they are to make the playoffs.
"We are not thinking of the final four at the moment," KKR wicketkeeper-batsman Manvinder Bisla told IPL's official website. "We would like to take it one step at a time.
"We have not won the games we should have and made it a bit difficult for us, but the more wins we get under our belt, the better we will get and the closer we will get to the final four."
Bisla was instrumental in KKR's successful chase against Kings XI, scoring an unbeaten half-century, and was glad to finally see his side go over the line after three consecutive losses, which left them in serious danger of missing out on the final stage of the season.
"It was a very important victory for us," he added. "We were a bit low after three consecutive losses, but we were very positive about a comeback despite three losses.
"We had the belief in ourselves that we will go out there and perform today. I am glad we won and this is only the beginning of better things to come."
CSK, who are generally notoriously slow starters in the IPL, on the other hand, have been in blazing form, and are second in table with six wins from eight. CSK's lineup is the envy of most teams and their depth in batting has been the primary reason for success far in the tournament.
KKR have a good bowling attack, though, and the likes of Sunil Narine and Sachitra Senanayake will be vital to stopping the CSK batting juggernaut. But, then no side plays better in Chennai than CSK.
