When the New York Jets traded for Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos they were expecting to get a game changing element to their offense that would help Mark Sanchez get more comfortable as the starter while also having another quarterback to keep defenses guessing, but instead it was mostly a disaster, with the team looking lost on offense and finishing in the bottom part of the AFC East.

Tebow was used mostly as a punt protector and special teams star and rushed for just 102 yards and passed for 39 on six completions while scoring zero touchdowns. Tebow is still under contract with the team for two more seasons and despite the fact that owner Woody Johnson said in an interview that the quarterback would play out his deal with the franchise.

The past week saw Tebow take center stage again, as one of his defenders went after Mark Sanchez in the media following some comments from former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia, who worked with Sanchez this offseason to teach him the West Coast offense the Jets will use this season. Sanchez also went on the record saying that he felt in a way the Jets allowed the Tebow circus to get too large, as they were the ones who gave permission to ESPN to set up shop in training camp during the summer, which the network was criticized for later by many in the media for focusing too hard on Tebow.

Steve Clarkson, the coach who came to Tebow's defense, was mentioned in an ESPN report as someone who was trying to drum up publicity for himself after working with Tebow for just two days during the offseason and he did a decent job as he snagged a number of headlines after disparaging Sanchez in a conference call with reporters. One reason that Tebow is likely on his way out is the fact that the Jets are using a West coast offense, something the quarterback doesn't exactly fit into. Despite the fact that the Jets have a number of quarterbacks on the roster, there is a good chance they take one of the prospects later in the draft, including names like Mike Glennon and Matt Scott or even former Oklahoma starter Landry Jones.

The Jets went just 6-10 last season and will be looking for a number of players to bring in through the draft and after making the trade to the Buccaneers for Darrelle Revis they will have an extra first round pick to work with. The team has been mentioned with interest in defensive end Barkevious Mingo from LSU, who is considered to be one of the best athletes in the draft, as well as wideout Tavon Austin and defensive end Ezekiel Ansah from BYU, but instead the Jets went with Dee Milliner, the top cornerback.
