Kansas City Chiefs Draft Eric Fisher Number One As Geno Smith, Ryan Nassib, Matt Barkley, Manti Te'o, Keenan Allen and Zach Ertz Best Available In Round Two

The Kansas City Chiefs have the number one pick in the draft as the worst team in the NFL from last season after going 2-14, but the team may already be one of the most improved heading into next year, as the team has made a number of moves like trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.

The Chiefs gave up their second round draft pick for Smith and now they have a legitimate starting quarterback and they also brought back wide receiver Dwayne Bowe with a five-year deal to give the team some offensive firepower. Jamaal Charles has proven to be one of the most explosive running backs in the league, while left tackle Branden Albert could return after being franchised.

The team signed a number of free agents in Dunta Robinson, Sean Smith, Anthony Fasano and Chase Daniel and is also in an excellent position in the draft with the number one overall pick. The Chiefs have a big decision to make on Albert and the draft and the two are tied together, as they may decide to trade Albert since they have the chance to take Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher with the top pick.

Reports are saying that the team is leaning towards Fisher, but the team has been looking very closely at Joeckel since the combine. The players are considered the top two linemen in the draft this year and if the Chiefs decide that Albert is on his way out of Kansas City, the pick will absolutely be at that position. But if the Chiefs decide that the line isn't the way to go (which is unlikely considering Andy Reid is the coach) the team has a number of talented players to go after.

The Chiefs are doing their due diligence by scouting quarterback Geno Smith and working him out as well as others like Matt Barkley, but after trading for Smith, Kansas City likely won't stock up on another quarterback, even if they think he could be a good for Reid's system. At the top of the draft are a number of talented prospects, including Shariff Floyd and Dion Jordan as well as Dee Milliner if they want to make a pick on defense.

Milliner is expected to be a contributor right away coming out of Alabama and some other intriguing possibilities include Jarvis Jones from Georgia at linebacker as well as guard Chance Warmack. The Chiefs are going to try to make the most of this pick, as they don't have a second round one after the Smith trade. The biggest surprise would be if the Chiefs select either defensive end Ziggy Ansah or Jordan, as they are top prospects but not expected to be the first pick.
