The Diamondbacks are off to a winning start this season after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday 6-2. The two teams meet up for the second game in the series. Arizona has won seven consecutive season-opening games.

The Diamondbacks registered an impressive 15-hit game on Monday as Gerardo Parra led the way with a career-high four hits, including three doubles. A.J. Pollock also had a career-best night, with three hits and two RBIs. He became the first Arizona rookie to get three hits in an Opening Day game. Newly acquired Martin Prado put up a pair of doubles and an RBI. He had had success against St. Louis, going 8 for 18 in his past five games against the team.

Trevor Cahill gets the start Tuesday. The right-hander went 13-12 last season with a 3.78 ERA. He had an impressive spring going 2-1 with a 1.86 ERA and 25 strikeouts. The team hopes he can bring that momentum into the regular season.

St. Louis struggled to say the least. Adam Wainwright looked rusty going only six innings and posting a 4.50 ERA. Jaime Garcia gets the start for St. Louis as the Cardinals hope he can perform better than Wainwright. Garcia spent much of last year on the disabled list after injuring his shoulder. He went 7-7 during the regular season with a 3.92 ERA. He had an impressive spring logging a team-high 29 innings. He went 2-1 in six starts with a 2.48 ERA. He does have a good track record in his recent games against Arizona, only allowing three runs in 11 innings. The great spring has given the team confidence that Garcia is healed from his previous injuries and ready for a new season.
