Liverpool Transfer News: Rodgers Plays Down Suarez Exit Comments; Coy on Eriksen

Liverpool manager has quickly moved to play down the comments made by Luis Suarez regarding his future with the club.

The Liverpool forward recently said he would be open to a move away from Anfield if a club playing in the Champions League came calling.

Suarez's Uruguayan teammate Edinson Cavani also hinted at a possible move for his compatriot, saying a player of his quality deserves to be playing at the highest level in the club game.

However, Rodgers asked the media not to read too much into it, saying Suarez was quite happy at Liverpool.

"I haven't spoken to Luis yet," he told reporters. "He was back late on Thursday and we just ran the medical team over him and he trained on Friday.

"All I am aware of is we have an outstanding player who has given everything for the club and he is very happy here.

"Every time he goes away, there is always something.

"I always say to players I have a simple rule: when you are with Liverpool just talk about Liverpool and when you are away with your international team concentrate on your international team so there is no drama.

"So what he says when he is with Uruguay is of no great relevance to Liverpool."

While the future of Suarez might still be a little cloudy, there is one player who is reportedly on Rodgers' radar for the summer and could be a Liverpool player come the start of next season.

Ajax technical director Mark Overmars recently said scouts from Liverpool had come to watch their player Christian Eriksen on quite a few occasions this season.

Eriksen is expected to leave Ajax at the end of the season, with Liverpool thought to be one of the frontrunners for the 21-year-old's signature.

Rodgers, however, refused to admit he was closely monitoring the Danish international.

"If you read what he says, he says we've had scouts there -- but we could have been watching any of them, we could have been watching players from the other team," Rodgers said.

"I won't speculate on anything."
