The Syracuse Orange took down the Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday night to advance to the Elite Eight, but not everything went smoothly, as guard Michael Carter-Williams' father reportedly got into it with Indiana fans at the game.

According to Deadspin.com, Carter-Williams's father got into a fight with fans while attending Thursday's game, but that didn't stop the guard from scoring 24 points to lead the Orange to a 61-50 upset. The team held Indiana to their lowest total in points all season after they averaged the most in the nation and now will advance to the Elite Eight against Marquette, a fellow Big East foe.

Carter-Williams has been one of the key players for Syracuse all season and he has done a good job of overcoming drama, including when his house back home caught on fire and was destroyed in Massachusetts while the team was playing California last week. According to ESPN.com, the house burned down and firefighters eventually had to be evacuated after arriving when it got out of control.

Carter-Williams played the game against California without knowing about the fire and later found out about it after the game. The team will now face off against Marquette, who defeated number two seeded Miami handily on Thursday night in the first game. The Orange already lost to Marquette earlier in the season in February, but the team is getting hot at the right time and should be able to get past them.

The last time Indiana and Syracuse played, Jim Boeheim's team had their hearts broken as the Hoosiers made a last second shot to win the championship. The team now has won six of seven games since being eliminated from the Big East tournament and is one of the strongest left in the field, which includes Michigan, Kansas and Ohio State.

The Orange are averaging over 70 points per game this season and are ranked 20th in the nation in rebounding with nearly 40 per game. The team is 66th in assists and 128th in field goal percentage while shooting 44 percent from the floor.
