Tiger Woods is officially back to number one after nearly two and a half years out of the top spot, as he won on Monday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational after a delay on Sunday due to a harsh rain storm in Florida.

Woods hit a 2-under-par 70 on Monday in the final round, keeping Justin Rose and Ricky Fowler at bay to take his 77th career victory on the PGA Tour. The win brought Woods back to the top spot in the world rankings over Rory McIlroy, as he has won twice already on the tour this season at Torrey Pines and at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

Woods has not been number one in the rankings since October 2010 and he takes over after Lee Westwood and McIlroy were ranked number one. The 37-year-old appears back to form after falling as low as 58th at one point and he heads into the Masters looking for his 15th career major victory.

The win at the event was the eighth in Woods' career, which tied him with Sam Snead for the most at one tournament. Woods also took home his 77th career victory in his 284th career start, bringing him closer to the all-time record. Woods at one point went two seasons without a win and now has six victories over the past 20 starts, vaulting him into the number one ranking.

Woods was in prime position to win on Sunday after entering the day with the outright lead, but the weather stopped him. Woods has closed out 51 of 55 tournament when taking the lead into the final day and he kept is up again on Monday after starting with a three stroke lead.
