Arsenal Transfer News: Jovetic Flattered by Arsenal Link; Wenger to Sign Remy and Samba if QPR Get Relegated

Arsenal target Stevan Jovetic said he is flattered to be linked with a move to the North London club, as Arsene Wenger also looks at the possibility of making a double swoop for Loic Remy and Christopher Samba if Queens Park Rangers get relegated from the English Premier League.

Jovetic is reportedly Arsenal's No.1 target for the summer, with Wenger asking for numerous scouting reports on the Fiorentina forward.

Viola are reportedly reluctantly consigned to losing their star man in the summer, with Italian clubs Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan also showing an interest along with Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City.

Jovetic said he was happy to see his name linked with clubs like Arsenal and City and added he would love to play in the Premier League.

"It sure is nice when you are interesting big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City," he told the Daily Star.

"It feels good because the English game currently has probably the strongest league in the world.

"I'm very comfortable in Italy but the Premier League is at the top of the football world -- and perhaps the best. We will see what happens in the future."

If Wenger were to make a move for the Montenegro international, he would have to have to fork out around £25 million ($38 million), which would make Jovetic Arsenal's record signing by some distance.

Meanwhile, Wenger is also keen on taking advantage of the situation at QPR, if the club were to go down, by making an £18 million ($27 million) offer for Samba and Remy, according to the Daily Star.

QPR are currently bottom of the standings, and seven points adrift of safety with just eight games remaining.

The Hoops owner Tony Fernandes and manager Harry Redknapp took a huge gamble by bringing in Remy and Samba in the January transfer window at huge transfer fees and wages, in a bid to avoid the drop.

Samba is on wages of around £100,000 a week ($152,000), while Remy earns £75,000 a week ($114,000).

Remy also has a release clause in his contract which would allow him to leave the club for £6 million, if the club were to be relegated.

Samba is likely to cost around £12 million ($18.3 million), and with Wenger in the market for a defender, the former Blackburn Rovers man would fit the bill perfectly, considering his vast Premier League experience.

Arsenal have made moves for the duo in previous seasons, but could never agree a fee with their respective clubs.
