--------UPSET UPDATE----------------

The No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast upset No. 2 Georgetown after defeating them 78-68 in so far the worst upset in the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. They trailed early on in the first half, but simply took over as they took advantage of Georgetown struggles from the field.

Bernard Thompson scored 25 points in this one and Sherwood Brown added 21 to lead the Eagles in scoring. They had six of the Eagles' threes in this game as the team shot 40 percent from beyond the arc. They shot well from the floor shooting over 40 percent as well.

Florida Gulf Coast took over the lead at the end of the first half, though they trailed early in the period. In the beginning it looked as if it would be another typical game featuring high seed against a lower seeded team. At around the halfway point in the first period, Georgetown led 18-11. That would be the highest lead in the game.

With a free throw and a jumper, Brown cut the lead to four and Thompson sunk a three to cut the lead to one. After Georgetown struggled from the floor, Florida Gulf Coast eventually took the lead on free throws. Georgetown trailed 22-24 at the half.

The Eagles took as the second half progressed. Georgetown tied the game at 31 then Thompson started an 8-0 run for Florida Gulf Coast and they really never looked back. That run grew and became a 21-2 run killing the hopes of Georgetown.

However, Georgetown picked up their defensive efforts mixed with an assault from beyond the arc, Florida Gulf Coast's lead shrunk to single digits with enough time left on the clock.

With 2:47 remaining in the game, Georgetown popped two consecutive threes to cut it to a single-digit lead. It seemed like the Eagles were falling apart. The Georgetown press was working very well. Following the two threes, Georgetown picked up another steal and Marikel Starks made one of two free throws to cut the lead to eight.

Florida Gulf Coast did an excellent job knocking down free throws as the Hoyas' offense began to pick it up. Starks kept his Hoyas alive as he knocked down consecutive threes with less than 1:10 remaining in the game. However, Brown continued knocking down free throws. As a team, the knocked down 29-41 and it seemed as if they didn't miss when it mattered most.

It's the best way to perform in an NCAA Tournament debut as Florida Gulf Coast will now advance to the third round where they will face either San Diego State or Oklahoma.
