Darrelle Revis Trade Rumors: Tampa Bay Buccaneers No Longer Interested in Cornerback? Team Losing Patience with New York Jets

Darrelle Revis might not be leaving New York after all. The Jets have gone back and forth on whether or not they were going to trade their star cornerback. They have attempted to shop him around, but the market of teams interested is not crowded. The Jets placed a high asking price on Revis and Tamp Bay has been the one team to emerge as being interested. However, the Jets are dragging their feet on the potential trade and the Buccaneers have reportedly had enough and may be taking themselves out of the running.

The trade for the All-Pro cornerback had once been assumed all but finished. The Jets and Buccaneers had a reported offer in place but the in the end, the Jets did not pull the trigger. Tampa Bay was trying to be patient with the team. The cornerback's market is dwindling and the team wanted to find the right player. Current cornerback Eric Wright had a miserable 2012, dragging the team to being ranked dead last in opponent passing yards, giving up an average of 297.4 yards per game. Revis could be the upgrade the team needed.

However, the Jets are asking a lot and Tampa Bay is not buying into Revis' worth. The team does not want to part with their first round pick, 13th overall, plus another draft pick next year. They would also have to pay Revis a top dollar contract he is likely to command. Revis is coming off a season where he tore his ACL in the second game, forcing him to sit out the entire year. He has yet to prove he is back to full strength, but doctors have stated they believe he will be ready when training camps open.

The Jets lack of commitment to trading Revis is starting to turn teams away. Many are looking to wrap up trades before the NFL Draft. If Revis is still a Jet come the end of April, all signs point to him remaining with New York. They have already paid him a $1 million bonus so far this offseason.

If the Buccaneers want Revis, they must force New York into a trade before another suitor arrives and is willing to part with the first round draft pick.
