Yankees star Derek Jeter isn't the only one on the team with ankle issues, as general manager Brian Cashman joined his short stop with a broken ankle after skydiving with the Golden Knights of the U.S. Army Monday at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida.

According to ESPN.com, Cashman broke his right fibula and dislocated his right ankle while diving with the Army team in Florida while jumping to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project and he ended up wounded himself. The injury came on his second jump of the day and it happened after he caught his foot in the group while landing in a tandem jump.

"I heard a pop in my ankle," Cashman said according to the New York Daily News, which had a reporter with Cashman at the event.

A Yankee spokesman said the general manager was feeling some pain, but that he would be fine. Cashman texted the following message to ESPNNewYork.com: "It was awesome.' The injury for Cashman came on his second jump and he was treated at a local hospital.

"I'm in great spirits, and it was an awesome experience," Cashman said in a release. "The Golden Knights are first class. While I certainly didn't intend to raise awareness in exactly this fashion, I'm extremely happy that the Wounded Warrior Project is getting the well-deserved additional attention."

Cashman did not need surgery for the injury like Jeter did after he broke his ankle in the playoffs and needed screws and a metal plate inserted. Cashman has previously engaged in some interesting stunts, including when he rappelled from the 22-story Landmark Building in Stamford, Conn. to celebrate Christmas dressed as an elf.

"It's an opportunity to do something that a lot of people don't do or will ever do, so that's awesome,'' he said. "But it's not like on my list of something I've always wanted to do. I'm kind of excited for the opportunity to do it but at the same time, big-time nervous about doing it."
