After unveiling statues of Herbert Champman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry, the trio will soon have Dennis Bergkamp for company at the Emirates as well.

Arsenal confirmed the impending unveiling of a statue of the Dutch legend to commemorate his achievements as a player with the North London club.

The Gunners have not announced a date as yet for the unveiling, but Bergkamp understandably said he was proud to be given such an honor.

"First of all, I am honored that this is going to happen," he told the club's official website. "It makes me very proud. Everyone knows that I love Arsenal and that I had a fantastic time at the club.

"For me and my family it was an important period in our lives. Next to that the people were great, the team was amazing and we had a lot of success over the years.

"I will do everything I can to be there when it will be unveiled. It will definitely be a special moment for me which I don't want to miss."

Bergkamp was part of Arsenal's 'Invincibles" team in 2003-04, and is widely regarded as not just one of Arsenal's greatest ever players, but one of the best to ever grace the English Premier League.

Arsenal chief executive admitted the team were forced to announce the decision on Bergkamp's statue a little prematurely after photos of the statue were leaked online Wednesday.

"Dennis' quality and style of play will never be forgotten," he said. "He is a true legend of Arsenal Football Club and it's great to think that so many Arsenal supporters and visitors to Emirates Stadium will be able to enjoy this tribute to such a great player for years to come.

"Dennis and everybody at Arsenal are slightly disappointed that some images have been leaked today of the statue in its development, but this will not detract from the excitement we have for the statue's unveiling in the coming months."

No date has been announced yet for the unveiling of the statue, and with Bergkamp widely tipped to take over from Liam Brady as the head of youth development when the Irishman steps down in 2014, it does make one wonder whether there will be another announcement during the unveiling ceremony.

The likes of Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira have also been linked with coaching roles at Arsenal, and nothing would please Arsenal fans more than seeing the trio run things at the Emirates once Arsene Wenger calls it a day.
