Arsenal could see another experienced campaigner leave the Emirates next season, with Bacary Sagna already reportedly plotting a move away in the summer, while Ian Wright wants Michael Laudrup to take over from the under-fire Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal have lost several players over the past few years, which has been written about, analyzed and dissected so many times that most of the Gooners would have gotten pretty fed up of it by now.
Sagna's exit, though, has been some time coming, with the Gunners refusing to offer the French international a payrise. The right-back's contract expires in 2014, and Arsenal have reportedly only offered a one-year extension, according to the Daily Mirror.
Sagna, who has been one of the best right-back's in the English Premier League since signing for Arsenal in 2007, hasn't been himself this season, with two broken legs seemingly taking its toll.
In fact the best game that Sagna had all year for his team was when he played at center-back, a position which might suit the 30-year-old more, as his legs start to go.
The improvement shown by Carl Jenkinson would have further convinced Wenger that letting Sagna leave at the end of the season might not be that bad an option, with the manager lining up possible replacements in Barcelona right-back Dani Alves.
Jenkinson still has a lot to learn, and could benefit from an experienced defender, be that Sagna staying at the Emirates or someone like Alves signing with the Gunners.
Meanwhile, Ian Wright admitted Wenger's time at Arsenal could be up and wants Swansea boss Laudrup to be appointed as the Frenchman's replacement.
Wenger is under intense pressure at Arsenal, as his side slide to yet another trophyless season, after being dumped out by Blackburn in the F.A. Cup and then outclassed by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
"Everything that is happening is down to the manager," Wright told The Sun. "He is to blame. Laudrup could, maybe, step in.
"Arsenal are in danger of slipping into a similar situation to Liverpool, struggling to get a squad together and attract players to get back into the Champions League.
"Liverpool have an unbelievable European record as a club but they just can't get back on track.
"I have been saying for years about the deficiencies in respect of replenishing the squad and getting Arsenal back to not just qualifying for the Champions League but getting past the quarterfinal stages and really having a good go at it.
"If we are not careful we are going to end up going for fourth every season. And if that does not happen -- then what?
"I hate to see Arsenal in this situation but something has got to give at some stage. It cannot carry on like this."
