Liverpool vs West Brom: Preview, Team News, Injuries, Predictions and Expected Lineups

With most of the top-four contenders picking up all three points at the weekend, Liverpool will know nothing short of a victory will do when the Reds take on West Brom in their English Premier League game.

Liverpool are currently eighth on 36 points from 25 games, having dropped down a place following Swansea's impressive 4-1 victory over QPR at the weekend.

Crucially, though, they are 12 points off fourth-placed Tottenham, and if Brendan Rodgers holds any hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season, he will know three points are a must at Anfield against a West Brom side, who are just one place and two points below them.

Liverpool played one of their best games of the season against Manchester City last weekend, but only came away with a point following a late Sergio Aguero goal, while throwing away a two-goal lead against Arsenal.

"In the Arsenal game we were 2-0 up and bitterly disappointed, but in terms of the performance level I can only be happy," Rodgers said.

"Even more so after the Manchester City game -- I thought we showed incredible character and we were at a high level. Offensively we were very good, but we were obviously disappointed with the goals we conceded. We felt we should have taken more points.

"It's going to be very tough but it's not impossible. The confidence in the team is the important factor and our confidence is good. All of the players want the ball and are working very hard.

"We went to Manchester City and had 22 shots at goal, so we look like we're always going to score goals. There's a real determination in the group to finish the season well.

"It will be a difficult game for us on Monday night. Steve Clarke has done an excellent job there.

"They've not started the year as they would have wanted, and at Anfield there's greater confidence in terms of our game and that's something we want to continue to the end of the season.

"We can do it, there's no question about that. We've had a lot of tough games and we've got a lot of rivals for those positions to play at home.

"Our form at home is getting better -- we're scoring goals, we're defensively strong, the crowd have been magnificent.

"We sense a real opportunity but it's a lot of points to make up. We're certainly going to fight and accept the challenge."

Rodgers could give a run out to new signing Philippe Coutinho, while the in-form Daniel Sturridge will be assessed before a decision is taken. Sturridge pulled out of England's friendly against Brazil with a thigh problem, although Raheem Sterling has been passed fit.

West Brom will be without defender Goran Popov who serves the first of a three-match suspension for spitting at Tottenham's Kyle Walker. Youssouf Mulumbu, though, could return after overcoming a knee problem, which has kept the midfielder out since Jan. 1.

A major decision that West Brom manager Steve Clarke will have to make will be regarding Peter Odemwingie, following his transfer deadline day fiasco.

Expected lineups: Liverpool: Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson; Downing, Sturridge, Suarez.

West Brom: Foster; Reid, Olsson, McAuley, Ridgewell; Yacob, Mulumbu; Brunt, Morrison, Fortune; Long.

Prediction: 2-0 to Liverpool
