Born and raised in Chicago, Jonte Wells developed a passion for athletics at a young age, eventually growing into the 'basketball guy' within his community. More than just another talented athlete in Chicago's rich hardwood history, Jonte aspired to do more than just learn the ins and outs of the game -- he wanted to help others to use the sport to level up their lives.

Jonte Wells is the CEO and founder of Greater Purpose Athletics, a fully-stocked athletic center located in Schaumburg, IL, in Remington Plaza. A stocked-and-staffed training center, Greater Purpose Athletics features more than 12,000 sq/ft of state-of-the-art equipment and training space, including a basketball court, a turf area, a recovery room, and a weight room. All of the high-end equipment in the world pales in comparison to the impact made by the owner of the company itself, Jonte.
Jonte was born in inner-city Chicago. He saw firsthand how hard it was to find sports facilities to train in while a youth, especially during the colder seasons. Understanding how important a structured training environment can be for keeping kids out of trouble, Jonte wanted to do something that he knew would positively impact his community. Greater Purpose Athletics is a facility designed to help the youth grow their talents within a family-focused dynamic.
Jonte says of the work his company does, "We will give you the resources to make sure you maximize and elongate your career on the playing floor."

While helping his students learn the ins and outs of their chosen sport, Jonte Wells also aspires to offer them the steps they need professionally at the next level. Jonte Wells established Greater Purpose Management in conjunction with his work at Greater Purpose Athletics. The goal of GPM is to help nurture the careers of young athletes as they take on the next level of their journey, stepping away from the gym and into the world of brand management and career development.
As a huge component of what he's doing with Greater Purpose Athletics, Jonte's work developing a management team was a natural extension of his efforts as a fitness inspiration. In a field where injuries can derail your career, making smart choices early on can have a profound difference later in life.
Jonte says of his decision to start a talent management and marketing agency, "It started with me just having an athletic background, knowing a lot of athletes." Jonte would go on to describe coming from the same background as many of his students, teaching them the ins and outs of hurdles that he has personally been forced to clear on his own.
As a talent management professional and an entrepreneur, Jonte uses his skills to guide players through the development phase of their brand, navigating NCAA rules, pre-draft hype, and social media duties all at the same time. Fundamentally, Jonte wants to help his clients turn their athletic skills into a name, image, and likeness that can bear fruit for years to come.
More than a talented athlete and brand management professional, Jonte is a go-getter with a winning attitude. Rather than wait for the next star to land at his doorstep, Jonte has become an active recruiter of talent for Greater Purpose Management. Reaching out often toward targeted athletes and their agents, Jonte takes an entrepreneurial approach to roster management. Understanding their past and being able to relate to their hopes and dreams has been a huge component of Jonte's success, though he feels he has something special to offer thanks to his past as a business owner.
Outside of his work in athletics, Jonte has cultivated a successful career as a real estate investor and a franchise manager. His ability to turn concepts into winning entrepreneurial efforts highlights the success that his athletes can expect while under his wing at Greater Purpose Athletics.
Focus and attention are part and parcel of the experience for athletes working under the wings of Jonte Wells. Due to the smaller nature of GPM talent management, Jonte can provide a ton of individual attention to each client in need. Jonte says, "We're very hands-on, we communicate with them daily, and we're marking sure that they're happy."
Ultimately, Jonte advises all of his peers and students to understand one key idea: "Whatever it is that you are doing, don't cheat yourself - give it your all and you will find your purpose."
